Health and Wellbeing   Yesterday we were figuring out how far our food had to travel to get to where we got it from. We call these food miles. Can you make an information leaflet to give people ideas for why they should reduce their food miles and how they could do this?

Literacy- reading comprehension Today we are going to think about descriptive writing. Think carefully about setting the scene. Can you write a description using all the words in your word bank? Health and Wellbeing   Yesterday we were thinking about where our food came from. Thinking about the three foods you found yesterday, which one has travelled the furthest? How did you figure it out? You can show this by making a map, writing down the distance or you could think of another creative way of displaying this.

Health and Wellbeing   Today we are going to think about where our food comes from. Your task for today is to look in your kitchen, can you find any packets that say where your food is from? Draw a picture of up to 3 different foods and write beside them where they are from. Note for parents: If you can’t see this information on any packets, vegetables and fruit are normally really good ones, you can look for where food has been packaged or produced.

Health and Wellbeing   Can you help with cooking some part of a meal. While you are helping, think carefully about how to keep safe. This might mean thinking about heat, pans, protecting children that are younger than you. Can you come up with three top safety tips to remember when you are helping cook in the kitchen? You can display these on a poster or write them down ready to share in your google meet tomorrow.

This happens at the very start of the chapter so you might want to put it back and listen again. Can you think of a word or two to add to the list? Save your list to help you with your writing task at the end of the week.

Daily Check In/ Registration  Virtual playground today @12.30 for 20 minutes. This will be at a slightly later time to accommodate an appointment I have to attend. This can be accessed the same way as a google meet, using the code p23miltonvirtualplayground. We are hoping this will run like a break time as an opportunity for the kids to have a chat, adults will just be there to supervise.  Please make sure you are using your child’s @invergordonacademy email to access this. Question: Can you think of something you would like to show your friends during todays virtual playground? Health and Wellbeing   This week we are going to be thinking all about food, preparing food and where our food comes from.   Can you learn how to safely prepare any vegetable today? Note for parents: This is not an independent task! It will be important to keep a very close eye on your little one, making sure they are holding their fingers away from the knife.

Can you sort these into alphabetical order?   Note for adults: In school today we spend much less time learning the alphabet and more time learning the phonic sounds each letter makes. You might need to have a reminder of the order of the alphabet to help your little one complete this task.

Health and Wellbeing     Draw a picture of yourself doing your dream job. Can you write how you chose this?

Numeracy- How much is left? A few of you have said your little ones are finding change difficult. Hopefully this game will help. How to play: You start with a number and then say how much you will take away. Can your little one tell you how much is left?   For example: We are starting with 8 and are going to take 4 away. Can you tell me how much is left? You can use a dice or numbers on paper to make it a little more fun. I recommend starting within 10 and using concrete materials to help. You can increase the challenge as you go.

Literacy- Pictionary https://randomwordgenerator.com/pictionary.php Use the link above for a word generator or writing some words on pieces of paper yourself How to play: Each player takes a turn reading the word (without the other player seeing) using no sounds, letters/words, gestures or clues, they must draw a picture of the word to see if the other person can guess it. Fancy a challenge? Put a one minute timer on and see if you can beat the clock to figure it out. Note for parents: As part of this fun game it’s important to let your little one sound the word out for themselves. If they can’t figure a word out just encourage them to generate/ pick another word.

Health and Wellbeing     How do people choose what jobs they will have? Can you ask someone in your house how they chose or would choose what job they are doing or would want.

Numeracy- Money Decide on how much money you are going to start your day with. This imaginary amount of money will in your ‘bank account’. Write it down on the top of a piece of paper.   Can you make your own credit card? Or is there an old high life card or something in your house you could use. Every time you have a meal, snack, drink or need your parents help they will deduct money from your account. They will tell you how much it cost and you can figure out what your new balance is. Note for parents: don’t let you little one start the day with too much in the account. I would recommend £20-£50. This is a fun activity to try and show them that paying contactless/ card payments is still spending money.

Follow up activity: Write a letter from Murph to his mum explaining how you feel about having to move again.

Literacy- boggle Listen to chapter 14 of Kid Normal.   Question for discussion: Do you think it’s fair that Murph is not joining Mr Flash in his CT class anymore? Follow up task: If Milton Primary School was a school for magical powers. What cape (power) do you think each of the teachers would have? You can either draw a picture of each teacher and their cape or write a list of the teachers with their powers beside them. I am very excited to see the list. Keep your list somewhere safe so you can discuss it in your google meet tomorrow.
