Health and Wellbeing   Yesterday I saw some fantastic  pictures of worry boxes. I was very impressed with how creative they were. Today can you think of a worry to put into the box? It doesn’t have to be a big worry, it can be a little one and you can ask your grown up if they would like to put one in too. Sometimes just writing our worries down and putting them away in a box can really help us feel better. Note for parents: When we do worry boxes in school we spend some time talking about ways we could help make that worry feel a little smaller, things like talking to someone, explaining hoe you feel or asking for help.

Numeracy   Sumdog- diagnostic test   If you’ve not already started the test, please do so today. The test will help ensure sumdog is giving questions at the right level. Don’t worry of the test causes a little frustration, just take lots of breaks.   It does not need to be finished today. If you have done it already, try something a bit different.   P2:  Today you are going to be thinking about fact families and the connection between addition and subtraction. There are two important learning points- starting with the biggest number when adding and how this can be turned into a subtraction question, using the same information. P3: Today you are going to be thinking about number sequencing. I would recommend starting in the 10-30 range and building up to make it more challenging. This game will let you go into the thousands.

Literacy- Reading Comprehension   Listen to chapter 10 of Kid Normal. Questions for discussion: What do you think of Mr Flash? Is he a good teacher? Would you like him as your teacher? Follow up task: Draw a picture of Mr Flash and write some words to describe him around the picture

tHealth and Wellbeing   Change can sometimes make us feel worried. Today we are going to think about what we can do when we get a worried feeling in our tummy. I would like you to make a worry box. You can use any old box in your house and decorate it so it’s special for just you. You might want to show your decorated box to your friends in your google meet tomorrow.

Health and Wellbeing   We have had a lot of changes over the past few weeks and sometimes change can make us feel a bit funny. This week we are going to be thinking about change and how we feel about it. Can you think of three or four things that have changed and how this makes you feel (these cab be good or bad). You can write them down, tell a grown up or keep them to yourself.

Numeracy   Daily Sumdog Challenge   Over the course of this week I am going to carry out diagnostic tests on Sumdog. This is just to make sure that it is giving the correct level of work. Notes for adults: Please ensure when taking part in a diagnostic test that your child is doing this independently.

Literacy- Reading Comprehension   Story Recall We have been listening to kid normal for a little while. Can you remember what has happened in the story so far? Draw comic book style pictures to show how the plot is progressing. Fancy a challenge? Can you add speech bubbles to your comic book pictures and write what the characters are saying or thinking.

Health and Wellbeing   We spent lots of time learning about our teeth. I’d like you to give a 90 second talk to someone in your house all about how to keep your teeth healthy. You can use pictures, use songs and be creative.

As this is a story all about a villain you should think carefully about setting the scene and making it interesting for the reader.   Remember it should have a beginning, middle and end.   Think carefully about finger spaces, capital letters and full stops.   Fancy a challenge? Try to use ambitious words and different openers.   Note to adults: Remember not to worry if you can’t read the writing, just give lots of praise. There is no need to keep them writing until the story is finished (unless your little one is keen to do it) otherwise I would give them 30 minutes and whatever gets done is fantastic.

Literacy- Story Map   This week you are going to write a story from the perspective of a villain.   You can either use your villain or the invention you came up with this week in your story.   I want your story to have a beginning, middle and end. I’d like you to think about using ambitious words and setting the scene to make your story exciting for the reader. Maybe add some of these words to your map so you remember them tomorrow.

This can be a photo, your child’s ideas or just a sentence or two with what you spoke about. You don’t need to do this for everything but for at least one task a day would be fantastic. I can see engagement on Sumdog so you don’t need to send me anything for this.
